Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the method for measuring the tensile breaking strength of glass fiber mesh cloth soaked in alkali solution. This method is applicable to fiberglass meshes used in polymer-based exterior insulation finish systems (hereinafter referred to as EIFS) that contain Portland cement as a component. 1.2 Alkali resistance can be expressed by the breaking strength per unit width of the glass fiber mesh, or it can be expressed by the percentage of the breaking strength after soaking in alkali solution and before soaking. 1.3 This standard is not intended to address all safety issues related to the use of the product. It is the responsibility of the user of the standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of certain regulatory limitations prior to use.
