Scope
WARNING: The application of this standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not address all safety issues related to use. It is the user's responsibility to ensure safe and healthy operation and to determine the limitations of the application before use. This standard specifies the method of counting the pollutant particles collected on the surface of the filter membrane using an optical microscope to determine the particle contamination degree of hydraulic system fluids, including the application of transmission or incident optical systems, manual particle counting and image analysis. . Particles with a size ≥ 2m can be counted by this method, but the resolution and accuracy of the results are related to the optical system used and the ability of the operator. The contamination level of all hydraulic system fluids can be analyzed according to this standard. In liquid samples with fine sediment or high particle concentration, if the filter volume is reduced to allow smaller size particles to be counted, it will increase. Uncertainty in counting large size particles.
