- This standard specifies the general terms used in the tire industry, tire classification, tire parts and components, tire tread pattern, rim, tire size, tire performance and its testing, tire markings, tire appearance defects, tire use, tire retreading and repairing terms and its definition. This standard is applicable to car tires, light truck tires, truck tires, engineering machinery tires, agricultural tires, industrial vehicle tires, motorcycle tires, rickshaw tires, and aviation tires.
