1.1 This standard specifies methods for identifying raw rubber, vulcanized compounded rubber, and unvulcanized compounded rubber, including thermoplastic elastomers. This test method is infrared spectroscopy using transmission method. 1.2 This method is a product of thermal decomposition (pyrolyzate), a casting film obtained from a solution. Alternatively, conduct qualitative tests using the film obtained by molding (for raw rubber only). 1.3 This method assumes that sample preparation and spectrum measurement and analysis are carried out by experienced personnel. As a general rule, infrared spectrophotometers should be operated in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instruction manual and kept in the optimal lying position. This standard does not contain details about the operation of infrared spectrophotometers. 1.4 This International Standard specifies qualitative methods and is not intended for quantitative analysis.
