Scope
This standard specifies a titrimetric method for the determination of water content (KFP water) of fertilizers based on prior extraction followed by the use of a Karl Fischer reagent. The method is applicable to all solid mineral fertilizers with the exception of those containing magnesium sulfate heptahydrate or carnallite. Note: 2-propanol extracts crystal water from fertilizers containing hydrated calcium or magnesium nitrates.
