This standard applies to the safe performance of newly producedcompressed natural gas fuel system components, intended for use on naturalgas powered vehicles, as listed in Table I.This standard does not apply to the following:(a) liquefied natural gas fuel system components located upstream of, andincluding, the vaporizer;(b) natural gas fuel system components incorporated during themanufacture of motor vehicles originally manufactured in compliancewith the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) forCompressed Natural Gas Fuelled Vehicles and the Canadian MotorVehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS);(c) fuel containers;(d) stationary gas engines;(e) container mounting hardware;(f) tubing and fittings.This standard applies to newly produced compressed natural gas vehicularcomponents, constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials,suitable for service pressures as specified by the manufacturer for use oninternal combustion engines.If a value for measurement as given in this standard is followed by anequivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as thespecification.
