Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the general requirements for the capabilities of various impartial inspection agencies, and also specifies the requirements for the independence of inspection agencies. 1.2 This International Standard is intended for use by inspection bodies, accreditation organizations for inspection bodies and other organizations that recognize the competence of inspection bodies. 1.3 When this standard is used for special industry or operation inspection, appropriate interpretation can be made. 1.4 This standard does not apply to the requirements of the testing laboratory, certification body or supplier's declaration of conformity.
