- The document gives the application, procedure and specifies the performance requirements for preliminary treatment of wastewater. The primary application is for wastewater treatment plants designed for the treatment of domestic and municipal wastewater, excluding significant amounts of industrial wastewater of a non-biodegradable nature and surface water where practicable.
