This standard provides guidance on a list of diagnostic measuring instruments for inspecting earthmoving equipment at the work site. The main purpose of this standard is to ensure that earthmoving machines are designed to be accessible and easy to equip so that the machines can be easily inspected using portable instruments. Notes: 1. This standard does not specify service equipment used during major disassembly of machinery or equipment suitable for use in maintenance shops. Note 2: Diagnostic inspections should be carried out by experienced personnel, and it is preferable that related specifications and explanations be written in the service manual rather than in the operator's manual. This standard applies to crawler and wheel type tractors, crawler and wheel type loaders, and free pressure shovels. Note that it can also be applied to basic earth-moving machines such as graders and self-propelled scraper dump trucks.
