Scope

This standard specifies the general rules for qualitative or quantitative analysis of inorganic and organic substances using an infrared spectrophotometer (). Note () In a broad sense, infrared refers to electromagnetic waves with a length between visible light and microwaves, but in this standard it is defined as a wave number range of 4 000 to 400 cm-1 (wavelength 2.5 to 2.5 μm).
