Scope

1.1 Part 4 of this group of standards provides definitions and explanations of terms used in parts 1 to 7 of this group of standards. 1.2 Related terms are classified using general headings so that they can be understood in relation to each other. 1.3 Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of this family of standards are basic safety standards that do not apply to low complexity E/E/PE safety-related systems (see Part 4, 3.4.4).1.4 Figure I shows the entire framework of parts 1 to 7 of this standard group and the role of part 4 in achieving functional safety by E/E/PE safety-related systems.
