Scope
This standard is concerned with three test methods for determining the bonding strength of impregnating agents to enameled wire substrates. The three methods are: a) twisted coil test: method A; b) helical coil test: method B; c) wire harness test: method C. This standard specifies three test methods for determining the bonding strength of impregnating agents (such as solvent-based varnishes and solvent-free resins) to enameled wire substrates. Bond strength can be affected by cure, test temperature, heat aging and, for any particular impregnant, by the type of enameled wire selected. These test methods include three prevalent standard operating techniques for testing bond strength. For a certain class of materials, one of these methods may be specified as the arbitration method in the corresponding product standard.
