- This standard specifies test methods for the evaluation of water dendrites in polyethylene (PE) and cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) compounds, i.e., the performance of these compounds in relation to alternating current (AC) electrical stress and the presence of water. Two test methods are described in the standard. Method J is used to evaluate individual insulating materials. Method II is used to evaluate the insulating interlayer of an insulating compound covered with a semiconductive shielding layer.
