Scope
This standard applies only to the installation of radiotherapy equipment to ensure the safety of patients, operators and other personnel during use. General requirements for building structures are not covered in this standard. Installations considered in this standard are those of radiotherapy equipment emitting ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes; eg installations of medical electron accelerators, gamma beam therapy equipment and gamma ray afterloaders. The installation of radiation therapy simulators is not covered by this standard. The installation of a specific radiation therapy equipment generally includes several rooms, such as: --Treatment room (also known as the computer room): It is the room where the radiation beam is generated and the patient is located during the irradiation period, including the place where people who are accidentally stranded during the irradiation period may stay Enclosed space; --Control room: the room where the treatment console is located, through which the operator controls the irradiation and other functions of the radiotherapy equipment; --Other rooms: the room where other components of the radiotherapy equipment are placed but not used for irradiation.
