1.1 This standard is part of a series of standards dealing with the sampling and testing of paints, varnishes and related products. This standard specifies a general method for determining the resistance of single coatings or multicoat systems of paints or related products to the action of liquids. Three methods are specified here, the application of which depends on the particular needs of the material being tested. Method 1 is applicable to more resistant coatings requiring longer exposure periods than methods 2 or 3. 1.2 This method allows evaluation of the effect of the test liquid on the coating and, if necessary, damage to the substrate.
