Scope

1.1 This standard specifies a method for determining the surface drying properties of coatings by the Barotini method for coatings that dry by the action of air or by chemical reaction of their composition. Note that this method does not apply to baking paints. 1.2 The method described can be carried out by either: As in a pass/fail test, the surface dryness may be checked after a specified period of time, or the surface may be inspected at appropriate intervals until the surface drying time is reached, in order to assess compliance with specific requirements.
