- This standard specifies the test method 1) for evaluating the combustion performance of building materials under laboratory conditions. Safety warning--all personnel involved in the combustion test should pay attention to that the sample may release harmful or toxic gas when burning, and appropriate precautions should be taken for the benefit of health. This standard applies to testing building materials, it does not apply to testing coated, facing or multi-layer products. For composite products, each component material of the product can be tested separately and stated in the test report. Coated, veneered or multilayered articles may also be evaluated by other fire reaction test methods (see B1 of Appendix B (Informative Appendix)).
