- This International Standard specifies the media characteristics, the recorded tape format and file structure requirements to enable information interchange between information processing systems using 19,0 mm wide magnetic tape and cassette conforming to IEC 61016 Section 2. 1 Purpose The purpose of this International Standard is to define the format necessary to ensure information interchange at acceptable performance levels. The interchange parties complying with the applicable standards should be able to achieve compatibility without the need for additional exchange of technical information.
