This standard covers sound absorbing materials for walls and ceilings installed in reverberant rooms, furniture, and people. Specifies the method for measuring the equivalent sound absorption area of objects such as absorbent bodies. It is not intended to measure the sound absorption characteristics of a resonator with sharp resonance characteristics. The obtained results are used for the purpose of intercomparison of sound absorption properties and for design calculations regarding indoor acoustics and noise control.
