- This standard specifies the terms and corresponding symbols used in the measurement of fluid flow in closed pipelines. It has been found necessary to discard terms that fall into the following categories: a) terms that are self-explanatory; b) terms that do not apply specifically to the field, especially in relation to open channel flows (see ISO 772); c) terms that relate to very specific methods of measurement Terms that cannot be standardized.
