1.1 This standard specifies the method for quantifying total sulfur in raw rubber, unvulcanized compounded rubber, and vulcanized rubber by burning it in an electric furnace. Sulfur also includes sulfur present as barium sulfate, calcium sulfate, and lithopone. 1.2 This method applies to chlorinated rubber, nitrile rubber, and hydrocarbon rubber (including natural rubber). Applicable to The presence of metal salts that form insoluble sulfates does not affect the measurement results.
