This standard applies to electrical accessory enclosures or enclosure parts of household and similar stationary electrical installations for indoor or outdoor use with a rated voltage not exceeding 440V. Note: This standard can be used as a guideline for enclosures with a rated voltage not exceeding 1000V. Enclosures that meet the requirements of this standard are suitable for use at an ambient temperature that usually does not exceed 35°C and occasionally reaches 40°C 1]. The enclosure referred to in this standard includes the covers or covers of surface-mounted, concealed and semi-concealed installation boxes for electrical accessories within the scope of TC23, which may or may not be electrical appliances part of the attachment. This standard does not apply to enclosures for assemblies incorporating overcurrent protective devices within the scope of IECSC17D (Switchgear and Controlgear), nor does it apply to enclosures of the busbar trunking type. This standard also applies to mounting boxes for mounting or suspending lighting equipment. This standard was originally only used for electrical accessory enclosures within the scope of IECTC23, and can also be used as a reference for other TCs and SCs. In the enclosure, any enclosure that becomes an integral part of an electrical accessory and can provide protection for the accessory from external influences (such as mechanical shock, intrusion of solid objects or water, etc.) shall meet the requirements of the relevant standards of the accessory.
