Scope
This standard applies to narrow-band and wide-range protection systems that transmit primary analog value information such as phase or phase and amplitude. The remote protection equipment can be a separate equipment, or it can be combined with the protection device or the communication equipment. A narrowband system is a system with a frequency band within 4 kHz for each transmission direction. A broadband system is a system with a frequency band above 4 kHz in each transmission direction. This standard does not apply to broadband command systems. This standard specifies and compares analogue or digital forms for use with power system protection devices. In addition to the power supply and interface part of the remote protection equipment, the performance of the cooperation between the remote protection equipment and the protection device should also be tested. All tests specified in this standard shall be type tests (see IEC50(151)).
