Scope

This standard applies to thyristor valves for high-voltage direct current transmission or grid-commutated converters as part of a back-to-back system, with metal oxide arresters directly connected at both ends of the valve. This section is limited to electrical type testing and factory testing. The tests specified in this section are based on air-insulated valves. The requirements and acceptance criteria of this test must also be observed for other types of valves.
