Scope

This standard specifies the external dimensions, maximum gross mass, forklift pockets, etc. of cargo containers (hereinafter referred to as containers) used for intermodal transportation (reciprocal transportation of trucks, wrecked vehicles, and ships) for the purpose of domestic distribution. The common specifications required for the handling of corner fittings, anchors, tunnel recesses, etc. are specified.
