Scope

This standard applies to low-voltage complete switchgear and control equipment with rated voltage not exceeding 1000V AC, frequency not exceeding 1000Hz, and rated voltage not exceeding 1500V DC, including type test complete equipment (TTA) and some type test complete equipment (PTTA). This standard is also applicable to complete equipment with higher frequency control and power devices. In this case the corresponding additional requirements shall apply. This standard applies to fixed or mobile ASSEMBLY with or without enclosures. Note: The special requirements for some special types of complete equipment are given in the relevant national standards. This standard applies to complete sets of equipment that are used in conjunction with equipment for power generation, transmission, distribution, and power conversion, as well as equipment for controlling power consumption. This standard also applies to those complete sets of equipment designed for special conditions of use, such as complete sets of equipment used in ships, rolling stock, machine tools, hoisting machinery, or complete sets of equipment used in explosive environments, as well as equipment used by civilians, that is, non-professionals etc., provided they comply with the relevant prescribed requirements. This standard does not apply to individual components and self-contained components, such as motor starters, knife fuse switches, electronic equipment, etc. The above equipment should comply with their respective relevant standards. The purpose of this standard is to provide definitions for low-voltage switchgear and control equipment, and to clarify their service conditions, structural requirements, technical performance and tests.
