Scope
The rapid development of data transmission services has led to the development of a large number of international standards in this field. As the overall complexity of these standards has grown, there has arisen a need to rationalize common aspects in order to achieve a harmonized link between these standards. Data transmission services and user facilities can be provided by different types of public networks, such as Public Data Networks (PDN) and Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDN) (see also I500 and I.510). As a result, it may be required to interconnect these networks so that a data terminal equipment (DIE) on one network can communicate in a uniform manner with another ADTE on the same network, or with a DTE on another network of the same type, or with another DTE communication on a different type of network. Internetwork signaling between various types of networks may be of the type as specified by recommendations X.70, S.71, X.75, etc., or by common The type of road signaling. In particular, network utilities can be exchanged on the inter-network signaling interface between the networks included therein. These network utilities can be handled by various types of communication networks. In addition, since part of the scope of application of Recommendation X.200 (Open Systems Interconnection Reference Model for CCITT Applications) is to encourage the realization of compatible communication performance so that different users can communicate with each other, it is expected that this type of reference model will be used in future user terminals. Will be actively adopted in the design. According to the definition of this reference model, one of the main functions of the network layer is to establish network connections between users of network services (within various end systems). This can involve concatenation of different types of networks. Therefore, the configuration and procedures of inter-network signaling between PDN and other public networks should provide users with operational data transmission services, telematics services, and telematics services on connections completed by one network, or on connections made by several cascaded networks. The ability to process business and network services in OSI connection mode. Note: This does not mean that any single public network is required to implement all mechanisms related to OSI connection network services. This standard is one of the series of CCITT interworking recommendations. Figure 1 gives an overview of the interworking proposals, grouping them into 3 main categories: a) general characteristics of interworking; b) description of each interworking scenario; c) description of inter-network signaling interfaces. This standard specifies the general principles of intercommunication between two or more networks.
