This standard specifies the method for the determination of residual carbon in petroleum products by the trace method. This standard applies to petroleum products. The range of its determination of carbon residue is 0.10% (m/m) to 30.0% (m/m). For petroleum products with carbon residue exceeding 0.10% (m/m), the measurement results of this standard are equivalent to the measurement results of Kang’s carbon residue method (GB/T268). This standard is also applicable to petroleum products whose carbon residue value is less than 0.10% (m/m), composed of distillate oil. For this product, first use the GB/T6536 method to prepare 10% (V/V) distillation residue, and then use this standard for determination. This standard deals with certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but does not intend to make recommendations on all safety issues related to this. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety and protective measures and determine the applicable management system before using this standard.
