Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the tear strength of fabrics by the tongue test method, including single tongue test specimens and double tongue test specimens. This standard applies to woven fabrics and fabrics produced by other techniques. This standard is not applicable to the determination of the tear strength of knitted fabrics, woven elastic fabrics, etc. This standard specifies the use of constant velocity extension (CRE) testers.
