- Scope
- This standard applies to newly manufactured voltage transformers (electromagnetic type) for electrical measuring instruments and electrical protection devices with a frequency of 15-100 Hz. The general requirements listed in Clause 4 of this standard apply to all voltage transformers, although the requirements are based on transformers with independent windings, but also apply to auto-coupling transformers, if appropriate. This standard does not apply to laboratory transformers. Note: This standard does not include special requirements for three-phase voltage transformers, but the relevant parts required in this standard are also applicable to three-phase voltage transformers. All potential transformers shall be suitable for measurement purposes, however, some additional transformers may also be suitable for protection purposes. The voltage transformers used for measurement and protection shall meet the requirements of chapters 4, 5 and 6 of this standard.
