- This standard specifies the technical requirements for global maritime distress and safety system (GMDSS) marine SSB receivers and transmitters [including medium frequency (MFA) transceivers and medium frequency (MF/HF) transceivers]. This standard is applicable to all passenger ships and cargo ships of 300Gt (gross tonnage) and above, oil tankers, fishing boats, icebreakers, scientific research ships, water engineering operation ships and tugboats of 368KW and above in all ocean navigation areas.
