BS 4A 4-1.3:1967 Specification for test pieces and test methods for metallic materials - Tensile tests - Uninterrupted creep and rupture tests - Metric units
This section of this British Standard, covers tensile creep strain and rupture tests of aircraft metallic materials. It defines the properties that may need to be determined and the terms used in describing tests and test pieces. It specifies the dimensions of standard test pieces, and the standard method of testing. The duration of the creep strain and creep rupture tests complying with this standard shall be within the range 20—30 000 hours.
The standard is also applicable to tests of shorter duration than 20 hours provided agreement is reached, between the interested parties, concerning the tolerances on the temperature and the soaking time.
