- This standard provides guidance for the establishment and implementation of environmental management systems and principles, as well as for coordination with other management systems. The guidance in this International Standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type or level of maturity, interested in establishing, implementing and/or improving an environmental management system. This guidance is intended for use by organizations as a voluntary internal management tool and not as a guideline for environmental management system certification/registration.
