Scope
The standard applies to autoclaves and sterilizers including automatic loading and unloading systems, which have a sterilization chamber using toxic gases, for processing medical materials and for laboratory processing, e.g. for sterilization. Note 1: The safety performance of the automatic loading system adopts national safety specifications or other safety regulations. Note 2: It is generally believed that automatic control of the sterilization cycle is very important for the safe operation of equipment using toxic gases, because manual control systems may cause serious harm to operators (see 1.2). Note 3: The main gas sterilants used are ethylene oxide and formaldehyde. Note 4: For some applications, the sterilization chamber is operated at a pressure above or below atmospheric pressure. Note 5: All pressures refer to absolute pressures. Atmospheric pressure (1 bar)≥100 kPa. Note 6: Unless otherwise specified, the term "pressure sterilizer" refers to all types of sterilizers. If the pressure sterilizer is equipped with a steam generator for humidification in the same device, the applicable safety requirements specified in this standard also apply to the steam generator. 1.1.2 Modification of equipment not included in the scope of this standard: Add the following text after the last dash: Does not include the gas environment generated by the pressure sterilizer itself (see 13.2.103.1). Addition: Add the following new dashes and notes: ——Environmental cabinet Note 1: Because all pressure sterilizers covered in this Part 2 use toxic gases, other types of devices that use only steam or dry heat sterilization are not included Included; Note 2: This standard does not discuss the special requirements for washer-disinfectors, the high risk microbial hazards associated with the load, nor the requirements for the design of the pressure vessel itself. 1.2 Purpose modification: Insert the following text after the word "gas" in the sixth dash: (Including accidental release of toxic gases) 1.4 Environmental conditions replacement: The first dash is replaced with the following: ——Indoor use , it can be used outdoors if the manufacturer indicates otherwise (see 11.6 of GB 4793.1-2007).
