This standard specifies the method for identifying saturated rubber in unsaturated rubber. This standard applies to single or combined use of unsaturated rubber, such as polyisoprene (IR or NR), butadiene-styrene copolymer (SBR), various butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers (NBR) and polyisoprene Identification of isobutylene-isoprene copolymers (butyl rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber, brominated butyl rubber) and ethylene-propylene copolymers (EPDM rubber) in chloroprene (CR) blends , EPDM). This standard does not apply to compounds containing low molecular weight polyethylene or polystyrene. Materials of this type are resistant to acid digestion and are soluble in hot methylene chloride. If present, it will appear in the IR spectrum together with saturated rubber.
