This standard specifies conditions for carrying out tensile fatigue tests on threaded components and recommendations for evaluating the results. Unless otherwise agreed, the tests are carried out in the form of partial oscillation (tension) at room temperature and the applied load is coaxial with the axis of the threaded part. The effect of the compliance of the fastened member on the strain of the threaded component is not taken into account. This method allows determining the fatigue strength of threaded parts. Test results are affected by test conditions. For this reason, minimum requirements are specified to reduce its effects. Additionally, it includes methods for calibrating and aligning test equipment.
