- Scope
- This standard applies to DC fixed capacitors used in electronic equipment with metallized layers as electrodes and polyethylene terephthalate (abbreviated as polyester) film as the medium. Such capacitors may have "self-healing properties" depending on the conditions of use. It is mainly used in occasions where the AC component is less than the rated voltage. This standard includes two performance levels of capacitors, level 1 is long-life capacitors, and level 2 is general capacitors. This standard does not include capacitors for radio interference suppression. This type of capacitor is specified in IEC 384-14 "Fixed Capacitors for Electronic Equipment Part 14: Partial Specification: Selection and General Requirements for Test Methods of Fixed Capacitors for Radio Interference Suppression".
