- This standard specifies the basic principles of ergonomics for the design of work systems. For the design of optimum working conditions for human quality of life, safety and health, also taking into account technical and economical effects. Note 1 This standard should be used in conjunction with other relevant standards, rules or agreements. 2 In order to meet some additional requirements of certain types of people, such as age factors, physical and mental disabilities factors, special workplaces or emergency situations, some clauses of this standard may be adjusted as necessary. 3 While the principles in this standard are applicable to industry, they are also applicable to other areas of human activity.
