This standard requires that a metal salt of dodecyl sulfate [sodium dodecyl sulfate (hereinafter referred to as SDS), etc.] act on a protein or polypeptide to form a polypeptide-SDS complex, and then a polyacrylamide gel is used as a support. This section specifies methods for quantitative analysis of proteins, their suppunits, or polypeptides by electrophoresis as well as methods for measuring their molecular weights.
