Scope
This standard applies to such an interface system that interconnects programmable and non-programmable electronic measuring devices with other necessary devices and accessories to form an instrument system. This standard applies to interfaces of instrumentation systems (or portions thereof) in which: (1) The data exchanged between interconnected devices are digital (as opposed to analog) ; (2) The number of devices that can be connected to each other by the same connection bus shall not exceed 15; (3) The total length of the transmission path of the interconnection cable shall not exceed 20m; (4) The data rate of the interface on each signal line shall not exceed More than 1Mb/s. The determination of the basic functions of this standard can also be used in some of the following digital interface applications: longer transmission distance is required, more devices are connected, better anti-interference ability is required, or a combination of these situations. For these extended applications, different electrical and mechanical specifications may be required (for example: symmetrical circuit structure, high threshold logic, special connector or cable structure, etc.). This standard can also be used for some other units of instrument systems, such as processors, excitation sources, displays or memory and terminal equipment that will be used in instrument systems. This standard is generally applicable in laboratory and production test environments with minimal interference and limited physical size (limited distance between system components). This standard only involves the interface characteristics of the instrument system, but does not include the design indicators of the device, the consideration of radio interference regulations, performance requirements and safety requirements, etc. Note: For the last two items, please refer to IEC 348 "Safety Requirements for Electronic Measuring Instruments" [3] and the international standard IEC 359 "Representation of Working Performance of Electronic Measuring Equipment" [4] 1). In this standard, where there is no need to further distinguish: The word "system" refers to Byte serial and bit-to-bit parallel interface systems, generally including all circuits required to achieve unambiguous data transmission between devices , cables, connectors, message libraries, and control programs; the term "device" or "device" means a device connected to an interface system. Any programmable measuring device or other product that exchanges information through an interface system and conforms to the definition of an interface system. A main focus of this standard is to propose an interface system for interconnecting a self-contained device with other devices by external means. This standard may also be used for connections between parts within a self-contained device.
