This standard for lithium single cell and multicell batteries includes nominal voltage and chemical systems, nomenclature, dimensions, safety and reliability, design guidelines, marking, terminals, tests (voltage and performance), and a battery numbering system for Lithium/Carbon Monofluride and Lithium/Manganese Dioxide. The tests specified are designed to evaluate the performance of the batteries under simulated service conditions. The battery types listed, although not intended to be all-inclusive, do represent most of those available to the consumer and, therefore, merit consideration in future design of equipment.
