Scope

The standard accounts for specifications as to the permanently endurable contact stresses (pitting endurance limits) and tooth root stresses (tooth root endurance limits). Moreover it presents requirements for quality of material and heat treatment and information on the influence of the material quality on the pitting and tooth root endurance limits to all types of gears.
