The evaluation of pressure components and mechanical systems for dynamic loading is an important aspect of the overall design process. The need for dynamic analysis methods and criteria has undergone significant changes in the past thirty years. These changing research needs are captured by the PVRC Dynamic Analysis and Testing Committee by the publication of periodic Interpretive Reports. The Interpretive Reports provide summarizes of the completed research projects@ identifies the current needs and prioritizes the recommended developments needed to support the industry needs. Specifics of the evaluation process used by the Committee are provided in Section 1.0@ Introduction@ of this sixth edition bulletin. A detailed summary of past PVRC research sponsored by the Committee on Dynamic Analysis and Testing is given in Section 2.0@ Summary of Past PVRC Research. The summary includes both the completed projects (Section 2.2) and active and proposed projects (Section 2.3). These summaries serve as a reminder of technical topics that have been addressed by PVRC and provide a technical basis for spawning new research proposals related to the needs identified in Sections 3.0 through 8.0 of this sixth edition bulletin. Section 3.0@ Seismic Engineering@ Section 4.0@ Pressure Transients@ Section 5.0@ Fluid-Structure Interaction@ Section 6.0@ Dynamic Behavior of Metals@ Section 7.0@ Flow Distribution and Section 8.0@ Polymer Pipes and Components summarizes the current state of the art@ emphasizes areas in need of research and makes recommendations for future research in each of these six topical areas. Section 9.0@ Summary and Recommendations for Future Research@ provides a summary of the priority research captured within each of the six previous sections of the bulletin. Section 10.0@ Acknowledgments@ provides recognition to Committee Members and outside experts for their assistance in helping prepare this sixth edition bulletin. The Committee intends to utilize this sixth edition of our Interpretive Report on Dynamic Analysis and Testing of Pressurize Components and Systems as a generic guide to future research and as a reference document to stimulate cooperative sponsorship in conducting the needed research and publication in open literature
