This part of BS 5131 describes a method of testing the impact strength of heels of women's shoes. When a major impact is accidentally encountered during wear and rupture occurs, the results of this test method can be used to evaluate the rupture liability. Note: This test method is applicable to all types of high heels regardless of the structure of the heel. It is particularly useful for injection molded plastic heels that are reinforced with steel nails to give information on the suitability of the steel nail hardness. From its appearance, if the resistance of the heel to lateral impact is high, this test is generally not performed.
