- Scope
- This test method is used to evaluate the pull-off strength or failure mode of asphalt binders. After the specimens are prepared under specific environmental conditions, they are tested on an ASTM D4541 Type IV bond tester to determine the bond strength and failure mode and describe the viscoelastic properties of the asphalt binder and its compatibility with the aggregate. The test results are dependent on the technical ability of the operator and the calibration and maintenance of the equipment.
