Scope

This standard specifies the torsion test for determining the breaking torque of bolts and screws with a nominal diameter of 1 to 10 mm with a strength class of 8.8 to 12.9 according to ISO 898-1. This test is applicable to bolts and screws with a nominal diameter of 3 to 10 mm that are too short to perform a tensile test, as well as bolts and screws with a nominal diameter of less than 3 mm whose breaking load and proof load are not specified in ISO 898-1. Also applies to bolts and screws. This minimum breaking torque does not apply to hexagon socket set screws.
