"INTRODUCTION In March 1979 a research proposal entitled ""Analysis of Flange and Clamp Joints Exposed to a Fire Environment"" was submitted to the American Petroleum Institute by Dr. Glen C. Tolle of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Texas AM University (Appendix I). This project was for the sum of $18@622 and was to cover a period of approximately five (5) months. During this time some ten (10) flanges would be tested in a fire environment for a period of 30 minutes to determine their pressure retaining capability. The standard valve end connections would be tested to an API tentative test procedure. RP6F - recommended practice for fire test for valves. Dr. Tolle resigned from Texas AM University effective July 31@ 1979 and Professor P. D. Weiner assumed the project responsibilities. Seven (7) tests had been conducted prior to that time and the last three (3) flange tests were conducted on August 17@ 1979. The following report gives the results of this Flange Fire Test Program."
