- This standard specifies the test methods and requirements for fatigue performance testing of stemmed femoral components (hereinafter referred to as femoral stems) in partial or total hip prostheses produced using additive manufacturing processes. This standard applies to metal femoral stems manufactured by powder bed fusion additive manufacturing processes using lasers or electron beams as energy sources. Femoral stems manufactured by other additive manufacturing processes may refer to this standard. The additively manufactured femoral stem involved in this standard refers to a femoral stem in which the main body or the part responsible for the main mechanical function is manufactured using an additive manufacturing process. In other cases, this standard can be used as a reference.
