Scope: This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides information related to machining of composite materials@ components and structures. This document is intended to supplement the machining processes and guidelines provided in OEM repair manuals and structural repair manuals. It is not intended to supersede the approved data provided in OEM repair documents. Purpose This AIR provides background information intended to promote a basic understanding of standard machining methods that may be referenced in repair documents produced by airlines@ airframe manufacturers and engine manufacturers. This AIR is one of a number of AIRs and Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARPs) that cover various aspects of composite repair techniques.
