Scope
This document specifies the identification of zinc and zinc alloy electroplating coating systems that are free of hexavalent chromium passivation treatment on steel surfaces and the minimum corrosion resistance and minimum coating thickness required to be achieved under specified test conditions. The zinc alloy electroplating layer contains nickel or iron alloy elements, which are called zinc-nickel alloy electroplating layer or zinc-iron alloy electroplating layer respectively. This document is applicable to zinc and zinc alloy electroplating coatings without hexavalent chromium passivation treatment on steel surface. The main purpose of electroplating or coating systems is to protect steel components from corrosion.
